This essay is about J. G. Droysen‘s position about the point of view of historians. It is based on R. Hübner‘s reconstruction of Droysen‘s lecture „Enzyklopädie und Methodologie der Geschichte“. The starting point is a wellknown attack of Droysen on W. Wachsmuth‘s definition of objectivity.
